Welcome to our weekly round-up of the biggest breaking stories on Driving.ca from this past week. Get caught up and ready to get on with the weekend, because it’s hard keeping pace in a digital traffic jam. Here’s what you missed while you were away.Watch the Tesla Cybertruck lean through a left (and crush a pylon)Whos driving @ElonMusk or the Auto-Pilot?$TSLA pic.twitter.com/xvmyHPG8Ol GuruLeaks (@Guruleaks1) December 8, 2019Elon Musk took the Cybertruck out for a drive in Los Angeles recently, grabbing a bite to eat at Nobu and a bunch of press coverage while he was at it.A TMZ video of the truck leaving the restaurant shows it accelerating out across the intersection and leaning pretty hard in the corner, despite the heavy battery packs lining the floor. Hopefully that gets ironed out before production. The truck also levels a plastic parking sign as it leaves the lot. Was that Elon showing off, teenager-style, or does he just not know how to drive his own truck? Chevy reveals 2021 Suburban and TahoeThe 2021 Suburban and Chevrolet Tahoe had their debut this week, revealing big changes inside and out, including new platforms. The solid rear axle and old chassis is gone, replaced by GM’s T1 platform, which has helped Chevy capitalize on the interior space the big families that own these things require. There’s more cargo space and improved access to the third row (the Tahoe expanded nearly seven inches in length, with three inches more legroom in the second row and 10 in the third). Check out our coverage of the debut, including photo galleries of both vehicles. The Hollywood Walk of Fame just gave the Chevy Suburban its own starThe more than 2,600 pink-terrazzo-stone-and-brass-stars that make up the Hollywood Walk of Fame have been honouring Tinseltown’s most-talented for decades. Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Bryan Adams and Harrison Ford (he’s got two) have all been immortalized in stone along the 2.1-km strip that runs east to west along Hollywood Boulevard. This week, a new star stone was unveiled: one for the Chevrolet Suburban. The SUV has appeared in at least one movie per year since 1960. There are other non-humans that have made the Walk, including the LAPD, the Dodgers, even Victoria’s Secret, but Chevy is the first-ever vehicle to make the cut. French man runs out of gas while evading policeIf you’re ever planning to ditch a police officer, make sure you’ve got enough gas for the chase. A French man tried to ditch the fuzz rather than face up to a speeding ticket, but instead of evading the law, he wound up losing his license for the next six months. The officer had clocked the driver, who was behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG C63, going 206 km/h in a 130-km/h zone, and as he was about to issue him a “red card,” the driver fled. The pursuit continued, but not for long: the Mercedes drained its fuel tank and the cops found the driver sitting in the back seat, claiming he’d been left behind by a different driver. Hm, ‘A’ for effort.Shelby F-150 Super Snake will make 770 horsepowerMost concepts don’t go beyond just that, the concept stage, remaining cool in theory, but not really made for real life. Earlier this year in Vegas at SEMA, the world laid eyes on the Shelby F-150 Super Snake Sport concept truck for the first time, and following the public’s overwhelming positive reaction, it’s been given the green light for production. Not only that, but the automaker announced 250 of the 2020 models (there are two powertrains — a 395-horsepower naturally aspirated V8 and a 770-horsepower supercharged V8) will be built for both the U.S. market as well as Canada. There’s now a $125 fine for parking a gas car in an EV spot in Ontario
A Ford Fusion Energi electric vehicle being recharged at a charging station.Handout / Ford Changes made to Ontario’s Highway Traffic Act should help make finding a charging spot a little easier for EV drivers in the province. Because now, parking a car with a regular combustion engine, or even an EV that’s not plugged in, in a designated charging spot could get you a $125 fine. Vehicles must be electric and be actively charging, or they could be hit with the ticket. Leader of the Green Party of Ontario Mike Schreiner told CBC that the bill was proposed after the party learned of the “major issue” that is the lack of charging spots in Ontario. Freeing up those few spots that are available for the cars that need them does seem like a logical step. Schreiner says he also plans to push Progressive Conservatives to add more EV charging infrastructure by incentivizing businesses to install stations. “Having policies in place to put more chargers in government-owned parking lots so that way, as more and more people move to electric vehicles, they have the confidence that they’ll be able to charge those vehicles and get on with their travels,” Schreiner said. The change to the Act marks the first time a private member’s bill by the Green Party has become law. LISTEN: What do you get when you combine a cross-country electric vehicle road trip with a poignant love story? Mary Ann’s Electric Drive, that’s what. In this week’s episode of Plugged In, we chat with Harvey Soicher, a Vancouver man who tragically lost his soul mate 18 months ago but found some semblance of healing by embracing what he calls a ‘pioneer spirit’ to drive his Audi e-tron from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean and back.

Elon Musk beats back defamation lawsuit over insulting tweet
(FILES) In this file photo taken on July 19, 2017, Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, speaks during the International Space Station Research and Development Conference at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, DC. Tesla shares stumbled on July 16, 2018 as chief executive Elon Musk faced criticism over a public spat with a British diver who worked on the Thai soccer team rescue. Shares of the electric car maker were down 3.5 percent in late-morning trading at $307.82 on news that Musk could face a libel suit over the episode.Musk attacked British diver Vern Unsworth, who had dismissed the Tesla chiefs efforts to help the rescue mission for the 12 boys as a PR stunt in a widely seen interview on CNN.Brendan Smialowski/AFP/Getty Images Elon Musk beat back a defamation claim from a British cave expert who sued the billionaire CEO over a tweet in which Musk labeled Vernon Unsworth a pedo guy.A federal jury in Los Angeles December 6 took about an hour to return a verdict that said Musks insult fell short of defamation. We were pretty much unanimous from the word go, said Carl Shusterman, a 70-year-old immigration lawyer who served on a jury for the first time.Shusterman said the verdict was straight-forward because it wasnt clear if the tweet was actually about Unsworth, since Musk didnt name him. The judge told the jurors that was one of the elements required to establish defamation, Shusterman said.My faith in humanity has been restored, Musk said after the verdict. Its another win for Musk, 48, whos managed to get out of legal trouble relatively unscathed. Musk agreed to step down from his role of chairman of Tesla for three years in 2018 to settle a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit over a tweet the regulator said misled investors. But hes run Tesla and SpaceX as usual.Unsworth had sought US$190 million in damages for the harm he claimed to have suffered from the tweet, and to punish Musk. Musk said he fired off the tweet in anger after Unsworth insulted him and his team in a television interview.I respect the jurys decision, Unsworth said after the verdict. Ill take it on the chin and move on.His lawyers were less gracious, repeatedly referring to Musk as a billionaire bully. It was the first time that Musk has been called as a witness at a trial, despite numerous legal spats, including one with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over a tweet the regulator said misled investors.Musk told the jury the tweet aimed at Unsworth shouldnt have been taken literally and was sent because the caver insulted his effort to help rescue members of a Thai soccer team from a flooded cave in 2018.The rescue effort had riveted the attention of the worlds media. Musk and engineers at his companies prepared a mini submarine, built with rocket parts, to help. The kids, aged 11 to 16, were saved without the use of the sub.The high-profile effort from the celebrity CEO drew derision from Unsworth, who knew the caves well and helped in the rescue effort. He told CNN that Musk could stick his submarine where it hurts and that it had no chance of working.Musk responded on Twitter, calling Unsworth a pedo guy and adding: Never saw this British expat guy who lives in Thailand (sus) at any point when we were in the caves. Sus meaning suspect, or suspicious.Later, he asked why Unsworth hadnt sued him. Musk also hired a private investigator to dig into Unsworths personal life and leak information to British tabloids.Unsworth, a financial consultant who divides his time between England and Thailand, described to the jury the effect the tweet had on him. When you combine sus and pedo guy, I took it as I was being branded a pedophile, Unsworth said on Wednesday. I feel vulnerable and sometimes, when Im in the U.K., I feel isolated.Musk, who had apologized to Unsworth on Twitter, did so again in court. But Unsworth told the jury he had nothing to apologize for to Musk.Musk told the jury he found Unsworths comments in the CNN interview wrong and insulting especially to his team which he said worked hard to help in the rescue effort and so he fired back.Neither man impressed Shusterman, the juror. He said there was no need for Unsworth to put down Musks mini submarine, and Musks response was equally immature.I felt it was like two junior high school students fighting, Shusterman

First Ride: 2020 Ducati Panigale V2
2020 Ducati Panigale V2Handout / Ducati JEREZ, Spain You may have been under the impression that Ducati had given up on the V-twin engine layout in its supersport motorcycles. In 2018, the storied Italian motorcycle maker introduced a V-four power plant into its Panigale superbikes, breaking a tradition of using 90-degree V-twins since the early 1970s. Then, to affirm its apparent abandonment of the supersport V-twin, Ducati launched the Panigale R Final Edition in 2019, a limited-edition superbike that celebrates the twin-cylinder engine that marked the history of the Superbike World Championship.Well, if youre like me and you rather like a twin-cylinder Vees syncopated beat, narrow profile, and broad, flat torque delivery, then youll be relieved to know the V-twin is alive and well. The 2020 Ducati Panigale V2 isnt an entirely new motorcycle, but rather a rejuvenated version of the former 959 Panigale. It uses a recalibrated version of the 959 Panigales 955 cc V-twin, this time with 155 horsepower and a touch more peak torque at 77 lb.-ft.Not that long ago, a motorcycle displacing almost one litre and producing almost 160 horsepower would have been considered an open-class superbike. Ducati, however, calls the Panigale V2 a super-mid, or super middleweight, since todays open-class supersport machines produce 200 horsepower. Indeed, Ducatis own V4, for example, gulps down 1,100 cc of air with each two crankshaft revolutions and spits out 220 hp. The last iteration of the V-twin it replaces specifically, that Panigale R Final Edition I mentioned displaced 1,285 cc and boasted virtually the same output. A V-twin with 160 ponies is just mid.Despite sharing engine and chassis components with the 959, the Panigale V2 gets completely new bodywork that closer resembles its V4 brethren. It may lack the bigger bikes downforce-producing winglets and has smoother fairing sides, but it does boast the gaping front air inlets, which reduce intake pressure losses. The seat is 20 millimetres longer for easier manoeuvring on a track, and it gets a single-sided swingarm usually reserved for Ducatis premium supersport machines. The suspension has revised damping, said to improved comfort on the road, and claimed wet weight is 200 kilograms.Aside from the appearance, the biggest change is the additional electronic intervention. The Panigale V2 now benefits from lean-sensing ABS and traction control, wheelie control, anti-lift ABS, adjustable engine braking, and a quick shifter that permits clutch-less gear changes. All of these parameters except the quick shifter are individually adjustable, even within the three ride modes (Race, Sport and Street). While traction control can be turned off, European law now forbids manufacturers from completely turning off the ABS unless the bike is designed for off-road use. The ABS nonetheless has three setups; the least intrusive of which turns it off at the rear so you can slide into turns, MotoGP-style.Managing the electronics is done through a 4.3-inch TFT screen by using the turn signal switch to select the various menus, and a separate rocker switch to scroll up and down. Ducati got some help with the interface from Audi; changing settings is intuitive, taking me a couple of minutes to learn the system without guidance. Now, I dont care if you ambitiously claim MotoGP-level riding skills, but managing a 200-plus horsepower bike puts a heavy toll on your synapses and requires Olympian strength and endurance to ride at anywhere near its limit on a racetrack. Sure, riding a bike that squashes your eyeballs into your skull on acceleration is an exhilarating experience, but it also demands brain-sapping levels of concentration to ride. Unless your paycheque is signed by a MotoGP race team, just two sessions of manhandling such a boisterous beast at your local racetrack will leave we mere mortals feeling like a clammy wet rag. This is where the Panigale V2 becomes exceptionally relevant. Ducati claims the bike is designed to be more accessible and easier to ride on the road (and track) than a full-bore supersport machine. After having ridden five sessions at the physically demanding Jerez circuit in Spain and requiring no supplemental oxygen or jolt from defibrillator I can attest the Panigale V2 is indeed easier to ride than a big bike, a motorcycle on which you can twist the throttle to its stop at corner exit and not scare yourself into submission with every lap. The engine pulls hard, but a completely linear power delivery makes it relatively easy to manage without threatening to loft the front wheel over your head. And its not just the sub-160 horsepower that makes riding it easy; the advanced electronics work seamlessly in the background making sure you dont hit the ground. My only gripe with the bike is with the brakes they maintained good feedback, but exhibited some fade nearing the end of the sessions, the lever coming ever closer to the

Power Trips: An electrifying road trip in a Hyundai Kona EV
The 2019 Hyundai Kona EV at Seattles iconic Gas Works Park, that features the remnants of the Seattle Gas Light Company gasification plant that supplied power to the city from 1906 to 1956.Andrew McCredie (Editor’s note: This is the first in an occasional series called Power Trips, in which we go on a road trip in an electric vehicle to explore the pros and cons of traveling along the ever-expanding EV highway.)It was out of curiosity, not necessity that we pulled into the I-5 rest stop some 10 kilometres south of the Canada-USA border.Wed left North Vancouver an hour earlier with 422 kilometres of range in the 2019 Hyundai Kona EV, and as we pulled up to the rest stops two Level Two Webasto charging stations, the readout showed a robust 368 kilometres still remaining, more than enough to cover the 167 kilometres to our weekend destination, the Kimpton Alexis Hotel in downtown Seattle. But I was curious to see if anyone was plugged in, and sure enough a Kia Soul was getting a charge while its owner sat in the drivers seat reading a newspaper and drinking a coffee. The other station was not in use. With a full-charge range north of 400 kilometres, there was no need to plug the Kona EV into the Level 2 charging at an I-5 rest stop. Andrew McCredie Back on the road, we were quickly up to speed that limit, incidentally, being 112.65 km/h, or 70 mph with a museum visit and lunch in Bellingham next on the travel itinerary. Less than a half-hour later, we pulled into a parking spot right in front of the Spark Museum of Electrical Invention located in the heart of the university town.Again, no need to look for a charging station, so into the museum we went to check out the incredible collection of electrical innovations and device from the past 100-plus years. In particular were some true Holy Grails from the technology, including Thomas Edisons first successful electric light bulb and a section of Edisons DC power cable installed in New York City in 1883 and unearthed following the World Trade Centre terrorist attack in 2001. These priceless artifacts are part of the War of the Currents exhibit, which chronicles the battle between three of the worlds greatest engineers Edison, George Westinghouse and Nikola Tesla to determine the electric technology that would power the world AC or DC. That story is told in the Hollywood movie The Current War, which opened in October. Another electrifying exhibit is the nine-foot Tesla Coil that emits four million volts of lightning. Thats some 3,999,644 more volts than the Kona EVs maximum voltage generated from the 64.0 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery. After visiting the Spark Museum and driving off in the Kona EV, it was difficult not to feel a stronger connection, and certainly a more profound understanding, of the 21st Century technology Hyundai engineers have packed into the tidy crossover. Try as we might, we couldnt find a Bellingham restaurant with an over-riding electric theme, so we opted for our favourite local haunt, the Boundary Bay Brew Pub.Fueled on a bowl of beef stew and still no need for a charge up we were back on I-5 for the final push to the Emerald City, a 140-kilometre straight shot south along the Pacific coast. It should be noted here that there was no hyper-miling involved in this road trip nor will there ever be in our Power Trips series as speed limits were maintained, and admittedly exceeded during some highway sections I was just keeping up with the traffic flow, officer. Likewise, the onboard systems from navigation to sound system to climate control were all used with no thought to their affect on battery range. To that last function, when we left North Vancouver it was zero degrees centigrade, so the heat was blasting and the heated seats and heated steering wheel were turned up all the way.Traffic was surprisingly light for Black Friday, and in less than two hours the Konas Nav system had us pulling up to the Kimpton Alexis Hotel, just a couple of blocks south of the iconic Pike Place Market. One note on that Nav system: like most systems circa 2019, it conveys plenty of real time information, including traffic conditions on the road ahead. But its real appeal comes from the EV-related information, including nearby charging station icons displayed on the map and your current range in relation to the destination you have inputted into the system. Ive been driving EVs on a very regular basis now for almost a decade, and I still fret over range, often checking out current battery charge and doing quick calculations to ensure all is well. Of course, with most new model EVs touching, some cresting, a 400-kilometre full-charge range, this seems quite illogical and unnecessary. After all, how often do you look at your current range when driving a gasoline-powered vehicle? But, the fact remains that if you run dangerously low in gas, theyll most likely be a gas station at the next off-ramp. True, there might also be a

New Cupra Formentor hits the road ahead of mid-2020 debut
Seat sister brand Cupra will finally put its first standalone model, the Formentor, on sale in the middle of next year, and new spyshots preview the final car’s design. As expected, the design stays wholly faithful to that of the earlier Geneva motor show concept, with the same profile and surfacing visible beneath this disguise. It’s the second production model to be badged a Cupra following the Cupra Ateca, and the first not to be based on a model from parent firm Seat. Cupra says the Formentor offers “the benefits of a performance car with the qualities of an SUV”. The Formentor takes styling cues from the Seat 20V20 concept shown at Geneva in 2015. As a coupé crossover, it also fits Seat’s vision for Cupra as a ‘premium performance’ brand, rather than as a producer of pure high-performance vehicles. The Formentor sits lower than most crossovers and features a sloping roofline, sharp sculpted lines on the side, a two-tone body and pronounced rear haunches. The front grille of the car takes cues from the Seat Tarraco large SUV, while the rear features a single LED light strip running the length of the car’s boot lid. While Cupra has yet to provide the Formentor’s dimensions, we know it’s lower, wider and longer than the Ateca on which it’s based in an effort to improve ride and handling as well as looks. . The concept car presented at Geneva features a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine mated to an electric motor, providing a combined system output of 242bhp, and a WLTP-certified electric-only range of around 30 miles. The power is delivered via a dual-clutch DSG transmission. The use of a hybrid system such as the fits Seat’s plans to use Cupra as a ‘technological flagship’. Autocar understands a pure petrol version will be offered, too, but it’s not clear yet if this will come at the same time as the launch. The Formentor features the Volkswagen Group’s DCC chassis set-up system and differential lock along with progressive steering. Cupra says the system has been tuned so that it handles “majestically.” While no interior images have been revealed yet, Cupra says it features a leather-clad steering wheel and bucket seats, dark chrome trim on the dashboard, a digital cockpit and a 10-inch infotainment touchscreen. The Formentor takes its name from a peninsula on Majorca, following parent firm Seat’s convention of naming cars after Spanish geographical features. A production version of the Formentor forms a core part of Cupra’s plans to reach 30,000 sales within three to five years. The brand sold 14,400 models last year, a figure that includes Seat-badged Cupra models such as the Leon Cupra R. Cupra design chief Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos previously told Autocar that the new Formentor was “100% designed as a Cupra”, but added that “there could be Seat versions” of it in the

2019 Dodge Challenger R/T Scat Pack 1320Peter Bleakney / Driving Theres nothing quite like horsepower until you dont have any. A recent test of the European Skoda Fabia S hatchback and its diminutive 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine drove the point home. With just 59 horsepower and 70 foot-pounds of torque, it could barely move the front bumper, never mind the rest of the car and its driver the 16.4-second run from zero to 100 km/h proved it to be the epitome of slow.Thats definitely not the case with these five horsepower leaders, all priced under $50,000 (based on the MSRP before manufacturer discounts). All five are charismatic rides with the ability to wow the driver and rider alike!2020 Ford Mustang GT$87.58 per horsepowerLeading the way is the Ford Mustang GT Fastback. The 5.0-litre V8 develops 460 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque and drives the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox that rev-matches on downshifts. It also comes with some fancy drag-inspired technologies. It has a launch control system and a line-lock setup. The latter allows the front brakes to grab the rotors, but leave the rear brakes off, so doing a burn-out to warm the rubber is as easy as it gets. The GT is also very nicely balanced. It is comfortable on an everyday basis, yet body roll is controlled and the tires let the driver know when they are reaching the traction limit. Punch the gas at this point and the back end breaks away in a controlled manner that is easily caught. The adjustable steering also lets the driver pick the right weight. The numbers? With a base MSRP of $40,289, it costs just $87.58 for each of the 460 stallions. It runs from rest to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds; does the more important 80-to-120-km/h passing move in 2.4 seconds; and it has a quarter-mile time of 12.2 seconds. The posted average fuel economy, not that it matters, is 13.3 litres per 100 kilometres.2019 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS$97.20 per horsepowerThe 2019 Chevrolet Camaro has new front and rear fascias along with some tweaks to the equipment list. The sleeper in the lineup is the Camaro 1SS it is a true wolf of a ride that never fails to entertain. In this case, the 1SS arrives with a 6.2-litre V8 that fires 455 hp and 455 lb.-ft. of torque through a six-speed manual transmission with rev-matching downshifts. It also gets 20-inch wheels wearing 245/40 front and 275/35 rear tires; four-piston Brembo brakes; and a performance suspension, along with a limited-slip rear differential. Track Mode puts everything into hyper, including the exhaust note. The serious punter will add the 1LE Track Performance package. It is not cheap at $8,495, but it gets bigger six-piston front Brembo brakes, a magnetic ride control suspension and Recaro bucket seats, among other things, all of which make a massive difference for the track aficionado. The Camaro is not quite as forgiving as the Mustang when the back end lets go the traction is prodigious, but when the tail disappears, it takes fast hands to catch things. With a base price of $44,245, each of the Camaro 1SSs horsepower cost $97.20. It runs to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds; does the 80-to-120 km/h passing move in 2.5 seconds; and has a quarter-mile time of 12.4 seconds. The posted average fuel economy is 12.6 L/100 km.2020 Dodge Challenger R/T$106.82 per horsepowerWhile the Dodge Challenger and Charger are essentially the same, it is the two-door model thats the focus here. This year, the 840-hp Demon goes away, but the 797-hp SRT Hellcat Redeye joins the lineup. Anyway, back to the real world! The Challenger R/T arrives with a 5.7-litre Hemi V8 that pushes 372 hp and 410 lb.-ft. of torque to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission there is a six-speed manual gearbox available ($1,000). At 1,917 kg, the Challenger R/T is not quite as fast in a straight line, nor is it as sharp through a corner as the Mustang GT or Camaro 1SS, but the handling is forgiving and the grip levels are high. The upside is the highway ride is more comfortable. The Performance Handling group is worth the coin the $1,795 brings performance-oriented 245/45ZR20 tires, Brembo brakes and a performance steering setup. The Challenger R/T has a base price of $39,740 and a cost of $106.82 for each horsepower. It runs to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds; does the 80-to-120 passing move in 3.5 seconds; and has a quarter-mile time of 13.5 seconds. The posted average fuel economy is 13.1 L/100 km.Sadly, the Challenger Scat Pack 392 (pictured) sits $1,445 over the $50,000 cap. However, with a $106.07 cost for each of its 485 hp, a 4.4-second run to 100 km/h, a 2.6-second 80-to-120-km/h passing time and a 12.6-second quarter-mile, it is money very well invested!2020 Kia Stinger GT AWD$123.27 per horsepowerWhen the Kia Stinger GT arrived, it raised more than a few eyebrows. With its stylish Euro-inspired five-door design, the GT added a much-needed halo car to a brand made famous by its economy rides. The GTs drive

Dodge adds GT muscle-car styling to its AWD Charger
New 2020 Dodge Charger GT all-wheel drive (AWD) features class-exclusive all-wheel-drive system with active transfer case and front-axle disconnect, delivering year-round performance combined with muscle car stylingDodge Dodge is taking its all-wheel-drive family sedan and injecting it with the style and presence of the Charger GT, to make a much more aggressive winter warrior. The AWDs car fascia now mimics that of the GT, with a wider and lower rear splitter, more angular headlights, a functional hood scoop, and projector LED fog lamps.Four 19-inch aluminum wheels replace the standard 17-inch units, wrapped in all-season performance tires (which youll probably want to swap for real snow tires).Around the back is a performance spoiler, and to make sure you dont smash it up, a ParkView rear backup camera and ParkSense park assist. Powering this new Charger GT is FCAs venerable Pentastar V6 engine, which makes 300 horsepower and 264 lb.-ft. of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels thanks to an active transfer case and front-axle disconnect. The rear axle receives the power 100 per cent of the time, until sensors on the front wheels deem the need to engage all-wheel-drive.All-wheel-drive can also be engaged full-time by pushing the Sport button, which also sharpens shifts, and holds the revs higher for more performance-oriented driving.Inside the vehicle are Houndstooth high-bolstered performance seats to keep you in place, as well as a Dark Dub Plate instrument panel. Dodge Performance Pages with an 8.4-inch Uconnect screen is also included.Through the Performance Pages, the driver can activate the Super Track Pak, which enables launch control features, and displays visible performance information such as reaction times, zero-to-60-mph times, a G-force indicator and lap times. For the first time, the Charger GT AWD takes the Charger’s fierce performance exterior and features, including performance hood, fascia, sculpted side sills, spoiler, high-bolstered seats and performance steering wheel with paddle shifters, and mixes it up with all-weather capable all-wheel drive on America’s only four-door muscle car Dodge Traction control can also be turned off completely, for drifting according to FCA. Cadillac is going back to real names for its cars as it switches to EVs
The 2016 Cadillac Escala concept. Cadillac is changing its naming scheme back to actual words, ditching the alphanumeric convention that, to some, has felt less-than-personable these past few years. The rollout of the electric vehicles is the time well start to move back toward naming, said Cadillac President Steve Carlisle. The name change comes as Cadillac prepares to launch a host of new battery-electric vehicles, according to Automotive News. The original alphanumeric nomenclature was the brainchild of Johan de Nysschen, Carlisles predecessor, who also worked at Audi and Infiniti. The idea behind it was to give a more European feel to the brand as well as a clear hierarchy, with names like XT5 and CT6, but it also meant dropping historic names like Seville, DeVille and Eldorado. Were entering the decade as an internal-combustion-engine brand, he said. Well exit the decade as a battery-electric brand. Its the end of the ICE age for Cadillac.Cadillac will gradually be converted into GMs EV brand; it plans to have 20 all-new electric vehicles by 2023. As Carlisle stated, by 2030 the majority of Cadillacs will be electric. As for the brands current vehicles, theyll likely receive a refresh sometime in the future before fully transitioning to EVs. The brand-new Escalade is set to be revealed in February, and will be transitioned to an EV eventually, though not before it gets Cadillacs Super Cruise hands-free driver-assist system, with a few improvements, such as automated

The representative said it could but not for free.Ablhd alleges the Honda rep on the other end of the phone said the companys tracking tech was showing him exactly where the car was during the call, but he could not disclose the location to Ablhd or the police officer, who had jumped on the call as well via speakerphone, because Ablhd was not subscribed to HondaLink, the companys emergency response system. The investigating officer asked to speak with the reps manager, who said the police would need to present a warrant if they wanted to know the location of the vehicle. Ablhd said he had not been informed of the optional service when he purchased his Accord, and that he would have bought it if hed known of it. Ablhd immediately signed up for the $148 subscription, and a few minutes later called the rep back, but they then said it was too late Honda was no longer getting a signal from the car. This customer did not have an active HondaLink subscription, which is required to locate the vehicle, clarified John Bordignon, a Honda Canada brand spokesperson. Without an active subscription, the police would have to present a warrant to activate the location services on the vehicle and no such warrant was provided.Contrary to what Ablhd and the officer were told on the phone, however, Bordignon says At no time was Honda or its HondaLink provider aware of the location of this vehicle.Honda Canada said it would reimburse Ablhd for the cost of the HondaLink
