Cadillac’s 2021 Escalade will get a 38-inch-wide OLED dashboard

Everything about the Cadillac Escalade is big.The vehicle is physically huge, the wheels are large, the grille is vast, and the price will likely be massive as well.Cadilllac is now adding one more mega-feature to the luxury SUV, a humongous curved OLED screen that takes the place of the dashboard and the infotainment screen.Cadillac released a teaser video for the dashboard on Twitter mid-December.Straight lines are so last year. Introducing the first curved OLED in the industry, with over 38” diagonal of total display on the 2021 #Cadillac #Escalade. First look February 2020, available late 2020. pic.twitter.com/AoW4SvXhYA Cadillac (@Cadillac) December 16, 2019The screen spans 38 inches from the left side of the steering wheel to the midpoint of the centre console, and is curved behind the steering wheel. A plastic surround encompasses the gauge cluster, but but doesnt break up the OLED screen.Cadillac calls it an industry first, which is technically true, because Bytons electric SUV is still in the startup phase otherwise, it would take the crown with its 48-inch display. Cadillac also says the display has twice the pixel density of a 4K television, with perfect blacks and the largest color range available in the automotive industry. I guess they think were going to watch Dunkirk on this thing, but nonetheless, thats pretty damn impressive. No other details were mentioned, so were just going to have to wait until our first look of the vehicle in February of 2020. The 2021 Cadillac Escalade will go on sale in late

Cadillac may build an Escalade EV with almost 650 km of range

2018 Cadillac EscaladeHandout / Cadillac Cadillacs next-generation Escalade could offer electric power for the first time, and, somehow, the massive and heavy SUV might even be able to net 400 miles (643 km) of battery range.According to anonymous inside sources speaking to the Cadillac Society, the fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade will offer more than just the standard 6.2-litre V8 gasoline powertrainthere will also be a high-performance version that uses Cadillacs 4.2-litre twin-turbo Blackwing motor. Both will allegedly use a 10-speed automatic transmission, and be available in either two- or four-wheel-drive. But rumours are for buyers wanting to go green, were looking at a plug-in hybrid a la the CT6 PHEV; as well as a fully electric model with a surprising amount of range. It isnt that surprising, however, because when you have a truck thats already heavy and huge, you dont have to worry about adding a bunch of battery weightthe chassis can already handle it. The next-generation Escalade will debut in 2021, but the electric option wont arrive right when the vehicle debuts. It will likely come later in the life cycle of the truck, the sources say. When it does debut, however, it will give the Tesla Model X a run for its money, as currently the top model of that vehicle only gets 325 miles to the charge. Of course, that number might be upgraded by the time the Escalade EV is released. The luxury-minded Escalade will also see NVH (noise/vibration/harness) levels drop thanks to the electric powertrain. And if you flick on the latest version of Cadillac Super Cruise while youre behind the wheel, it might be hard to shake the feeling youre sitting in your living room at

The fifth-gen Cadillac Escalade will get a high-power variant: rumour

The 2018 Cadillac Escalade. The next-gen Cadillac Escalade will reportedly be served up with an extra side of horsepower. A story by Cadillac Society cites “sources familiar with future Cadillac product plans,” claiming the top-of-the-range fifth-generation Escalade will get a more potent V8 engine than the current models. According to the Caddy-dedicated publication, the upcoming Escalade will come with three engine options, one of which will be a significant step up from what’s currently offered in the flagship SUV.  Official details have yet to be released, but Cadillac Society believes it has a bead on the three potential engines destined for the performance variant, which may be called the “Escalade-V” or “Escalade Blackwing.”There’s the 6.2-litre V8 that drovethe now discontinued CTS-V, where it made 640 horsepower and 630 lb.-ft. of torque. Option two, which our source claims is the frontrunner, is a tweaked version of that same powerplant, which has yet to be fitted into any Cadillac product, but has been used by GM to power the Corvette ZR1. That supercharged engine makes 755 horsepower and 715 lb.-ft. of torque for the ‘Vette. The third and final engine swirling about the rumour mill is the souped-up twin-turbo 4.2-litre V8 Blackwing engine that drives the CT6-V. In the luxury sedan, that engine makes 550 horsepower and 627 lb.-ft. of torque.  So, if rumours are to be believed, the fifth-generation Cadillac Escalade will have a model-topping engine with no fewer than 550 and no more than 755 horses. That is, if Cadillac plugs one of those engines in as they currently are. Regardless of which high-test engine Cadillac chooses to run with, it looks like the Escalade is in for a significant bump up in power from its current 6.2-litre V8’s 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque. The next generation of Escalades is anticipated to arrive as a 2021 model year, so we shouldn’t have to wait long to confirm (or squash) the
